Someone just paid about $450,000 to become Snoop Dogg’s neighbour in the metaverse. Based out of The Sandbox, an Ethereum metaverse, Snoop Dogg’s properties continue to expand. And with this, so does the value of adjoining virtual real estate.

The user paid 71,000 SAND ($450,000) for moving in next to Snoop Dogg on The Sandbox. Land on the The Sandbox is sold as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) that allow users to assert ownership of a digital asset – anything ranging from art, music, to virtual real estate now.

Called The Sandbox LAND NFTs, the items can be sold and bought as is common for most NFT platforms. The eccentric hip-hop musician and stoner-in-charge, Snoop Dogg responded to the high price for which the land was sold, Tweeting – “Won’t u be my neighbor.”

Snoop Dogg has partnered with The Sandbox to ride on the metaverse wave as different digital platforms battle it to gain metaverse supremacy. In converse with Decrypt, The Sandbox’s board member Mathieu Nouzareth said that they intend to “do multiple things with him.”

In fact, The Sandbox is selling its LAND NFTs with Snoop Dogg starting January 2022, for which they’ve already sold 1000 tickets.

The Sandbox-Snoop Dogg collaboration for LAND NFTs is proving to be quite lucrative. There are currently three estates on sale next to Snoop Dogg’s virtual plot. One was just sold for $450,000 while the other two are priced at 55,000 SAND and 67,000 SAND – $338,000 and $410,000 respectively.
