Rose Marie Lopez Garcia the daughter of Florencio and Margarita Lopez was called home on February 18, 2022 at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rose was surrounded and consoled by her family.
Rose was born, raised and attended school in Victoria County. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at Texas A&I and completed her Master’s degree at Our Lady of The Lake University. Rose shared her passion for learning and molded thousands of children’s lives over her 33 years as a Math Teacher and Librarian throughout the San Antonio area and 3 years in Victoria Public Schools.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Rose, especially being an avid reader and baker. She loved a quiet day gardening with her husband and a bottle of beer in hand. After retirement Rose enjoyed trying her hand at the casino and frequently beat the slot machines. She enjoyed traveling the world and visiting new places, she grew especially fond of Germany and their markets. Her pleasant and warming personality was contagious to everyone she met and always left an amazing impression.
Rose is survived by her husband of 30 years, Ramon; sister, Ophelia and her children Mia and Ricky and great niece Hannah; brother, Sammy and wife Becky and their children Steven and Elizabeth; son, Edward and wife Jenny; daughter, Yvette and husband George; and one grandson, four granddaughters and five great granddaughters.
A visitation for Rose Marie will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1321 El Paso St, San Antonio, TX 78207 with a committal service following at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to encompass Health Hospice or cancer curing for the pancreas
