To help children understand their emotions, which guides their journey towards peaceful living within the home and community, the founder of GalParenting Place and creator of Peaceful Parenting Hub, Abimbola Olayinka has released a book titled, You and Your Emotions to achieve this.
The book, which is available for free, has already reached out to about 5,000 students across numerous primary and secondary schools within Lagos State.
According to Olayinka, from infantry, kids imbibe what they see, when they see us portray diligence in our careers, they aspire after diligence. They commit hours to extra learning. When raised in a home where conflicts, fights, and arguments own the day, they grow up believing this is the proper order.
She said, “Children are precious beings. Brimming with potential and capable of innovation and ideation, children are pivotal in our desire to nurture a peaceful society. They simplify what is otherwise considered complex. They are loving and compassionate, lovers of teamwork, willing to resolve conflicts and grow with their peers. Yet, children our need help.
“Hence as a leader passionate about the healthy growth of children, I am inspired to equip them with the necessary tools needed to thrive now and in the future. To achieve this, we embarked on a scheme to help children realise the best versions of themselves.”
The parenting coach noted that it begins with self-awareness, which opens kids to the truth of who they are. They are conscious of their emotions, their feelings, and the ripple effects of these on their actions. Self-awareness, however, only thrives in all-round knowledge on emotions.
