People want to travel this year, according to research from Expedia Group.
An Expedia report released Thursday, based on a study of 5,500 adults and proprietary data, said 81% of those surveyed plan to take at least one vacation in the next six months. Most, 78%, are interested in taking frequent, short trips.
Additionally, 56% of those surveyed who often work remotely plan to take a combination business-leisure trip.
Many want to spend more on vacation, too. Fifty-four percent plan to spend more than they did pre-pandemic.
Some are taking into account the current travel landscape, with 43% of respondents planning to add extra time to minimize the impact of things like long lines and missed flights.
“Travel is about to experience a year unlike ever before as people plan purpose-driven trips, value vacation time more, and up their investment in unique experiences,” Expedia for Business president Ariane Gorin said in a statement. “Still, travelers are preparing themselves for possible trip changes as Covid-19 persists, and they want an array of options at their fingertips.”
