Ohio State junior guard Jacy Sheldon is the daughter of the former Laura Laut, a 1988 graduate of West Branch High School, and the granddaughter of former West Branch football coach Jim Laut. The 5-foot-10 Sheldon leads the Ohio State women’s basketball team in scoring (19.8) and assists (4.2).
The Buckeyes are 25-6 and have advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time since 2017. Ohio State plays No. 2-seed Texas in a regional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Spokane, Washington. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Jacy’s younger brother, Ajay, a senior standout guard at Dublin Coffman High School, is an Ohio University basketball recruit.
Jacy’s father is Duane Sheldon, who served as Baldwin Wallace’s men’s basketball coach from 2008 to 2015 and is the current athletic director at Dublin Coffman High School. Jacy was a three-time first-team Division I All-Ohioan at Dublin Coffman High School. She finished her high school career with 2,347 points.
Her success is continuing at Ohio State, where she has 1,264 career points at Ohio State in 84 career games.
This season she has started all 31 games and has scored at least 20 points in 16 games.
